Did Omegle Have Voice Chat?

Omegle offered two modes: text chat and video chat. There was never a dedicated voice-only mode. If you wanted voice without showing your face, you had to open video chat and cover your camera — a clunky workaround that most users didn't know existed.

This gap frustrated millions of users who wanted the intimacy and spontaneity of a real voice conversation without the awkwardness of video. That's exactly what RandomVoiceChat was built to fill.

Omegle shut down permanently on November 8, 2023. It no longer exists. RandomVoiceChat is the active, voice-only alternative.

Why Voice-Only Is Better for Strangers

No camera anxiety

You don't need to worry about lighting, your background, or how you look. Voice-only removes the performance pressure that makes video chat exhausting.

More honest conversations

Without visuals to judge, people talk differently. Conversations go deeper faster. You hear tone, humor, and personality without the distraction of appearance.

More private by design

You can't accidentally reveal your location, home, or face. Voice only means your privacy is protected by default, not by careful staging.
